Vector Art

Each of these selections was created using Adobe Illustrator, from CS3 through CS5.

  • Bobby Hull typhographic image.
  • Humpback whale. Pencil drawing scanned into computer, then vector art applied in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Image created for a Flash project.
  • Typography project.
  • Autism poster.

Bobby Hull
Typography class. Used Illustrator to apply the phrase "Stick it to 'Em" throughout. This image is completely made of the letters, using color and evelope wrap tool

Humpback Whale
Derived from one of my pencil drawings. The drawing was scanned in and opened in Illustrator CS5. There was a great deal of work done with the mesh tool.

Rebecca Robbins
This image was created for the "Book Explorer" Flash application I am currently developing. This is another project in which the mesh tool was used extensively.

"Create-Imagination"
Another typography class project. The assignment was to create an anatomy chart for two fonts, and for it to be attractive. One font was serif, the other sans-serif.

Autism Poster
Simple and to the point. Used Illustrator to break text into vector paths in order to accomplish the contrast effect.

Photography

One of my other great loves is photography. I absolutely love my Nikon D90 DSLR. Below the image thumbnails, I'm going to be a bit indulgent and share a little about each photo.

  • Heavy snowstorm.
  • Red barn in Illinois.
  • Suburban sunset.
  • Early morning rose in the sun after the rain.
  • HDR Swamp photo

Heavy Snow
Taken with Nikon D90 in West Dundee, IL. Edited in Photoshop CS5 with HDR filters (this is not an HDR image). Click here for the original, untouched photo.

Red Barn
This is a local barn along one of the main roads. It was a gorgeous day, and I had stopped to take HDR images of a tree I like. The sun was at a great angle and hit the barn in a striking manner. Barns like this are disappearing all over the countryside, and I think it is important to remember our history by photographing, if not saving, them from falling down. Click here for the original photo.

Suburban Sunset
We get some amazing sunsets this far out from the city. This was on our street.

Dewey Rose
One of my favorite things (next to HDR and HDR toning) is to isolate parts of images. My roses were blooming one morning in the sunshine, and it had just rained. The shining droplets caught my eyes after I put my daughter on the bus, and I had to go grab my camera. This is one of my favorite photos.

HDR Swamp
This was my first attempt at HDR photography, and it remains one of my favorites. People often thing "gross" when you say "swamp." I say there's beauty in everything; you just need to find it. On this day, it was quite beautiful.

Flash

  • Flash application for author June Sproat.

June Sproat
This project was created using Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator. Stock images (flowers, sticky notes) and some original images were used. I photographed the brown scrapbook, and Ms. Sproat supplied the book covers and portrait photo. I used Photoshop to make color corrections and change the background of her photo to make it more appealing. Also included is the ability for Ms. Sproat to go in and change text through external files.
