Trapped in a teenaged body for eternity, Raven is a war hero and member of an elite agency that seeks to protect Earth from an implacable enemy. Raven is also a vampire. Undercover for ten years on an alternate Earth, Raven has kept watch against alien influence. Now that evidence has surfaced of off-world arms dealings, he must accept a partner. Val Winn is a psionic and good to have on your side in combat. A stickler for rules, she can't believe her first off-world assignment has her paired with a gun-toting maverick, and agood-looking one at that. Together, Raven and Val dive into their mission, and into a maelstrom of budding passion. In a wonderfully descriptive foray, Saje Williams introduces a new look at intergalactic intrigue and emotion. Combining elements of medieval society, contemporary notions, and futuristic concepts, Williams provides a fun fantasy adventure with the promise of romance in future installments. While some of the write could be tighter, the average reader probably won't be bothered enough to put it down. This is definitely worth the time for readers hooked on e-book serials and/or fantasy romance. Reviewed by Christina Wantz Fixemer
