Beth Carlson is immediately put on guard by her new neighbor, Clay Reynolds. He has long hair, rides a motorcycle, and keeps talking about church. With her past, Clay is the last person she needs in her life, or her teenaged son’s. Clay is in town working a temporary legal assignment. He likes his lifestyle of keeping few ties so he can take assignments wherever they come up. But meeting Beth has him stumped. Something about her pulls at him, but he knows they can’t be more than friends: he travels constantly, and she doesn’t want anything to do with God or church. So why can’t he get her out of his mind? Merrillee Whren delivers another heartfelt love story grounded in faith, with the promise of forgiveness as a central theme. While this in not Whren’s strongest work, this story is sweet, the message gentle. Fans of inspirational romance will enjoy the small-town setting in the Pacific Northwest, as well as returning characters from a previous title, THE HEART’S HOMECOMING.
