Warning: This title contains explicit material. Theodora “Teddi” Howard has lived in an emotional bubble since she lost her beloved husband Matthew three years ago. Her travel agency business keeps the days going forward but her nights are usually spent dwelling on the past and what her life once was. Now Teddi is on her way to Munich to try to straighten out a problem with a booking agency. The agency is not living up to its contract and possibly ruining a vacation trip for dozens of Teddi’s clients, and—even more important—putting a very black mark against her Chicago business. While traveling back to Munich, David Stiefel spies a gorgeous auburn haired woman on the flight. He is unable to get her out of his mind, seeks her out and talks her into going out with him. The more David is with Teddi the more he wants her, but having been hurt by love before, he keeps telling himself he only wants a simple relationship—he will never love again. It’s too bad his head isn’t listening to his heart. Teddi isn’t quite sure what to make of David. He is so different from her dead husband, so forceful, so masterful. At times, she is maddened by his domineering ways, and at other times enjoys his commanding mastery of her. Adding to the equation is David’s cousin Claus, the man Teddi came to see on business in the first place. Teddi Turns On is an erotica about an American woman and a German man who are both completely closed off from love. The main characters are both given plausible reasons as to why they were once cut off emotionally, but it is slow going at times. The reader may wonder why they can spend so much time daydreaming about sex with each other, have the occasional steamy sex, and still not have a clue how to communicate verbally. This author can indeed write a spicy story but perhaps a bit more seasoning in storytelling would have added to this uneven tale of erotic romance. Reviewed by Lisa Guest
