Amy is afraid of getting lost. Her terrible sense of direction and her manipulative grandmother have robbed her of a normal life. She prefers to work from her home office and dreads trips to the grocery store. In a pact with her two best friends, Amy has agreed to face her fears. She does this by going on a cruise as a nanny. When she is left behind on St. Bart's, Amy is faced with her greatest fear: she is lost. Frantic, but not wanting to be a failure, she signs on as a housekeeper for the remainder of her vacation. Little does Amy know that the owner of the fort-turned-mansion is the famous billionaire Byron Parks. He is in hiding and masquerades as the assistant to Gaspar, a disfigured recluse, who only communicates with Amy through e-mail. In a voice full of wit and charm, Ortolon takes the reader on a journey, as lived by an ordinary woman with very real fears. The lush setting of St. Bart's adds a sweet Caribbean flavor to a beautifully woven tale. -C.W.
