Currently the hiring partner at one of the world’s largest law firms, Anonymous Lawyer desperately wants to be the chairman. But he’ll have to take down his main rival, The Jerk, to get the job. Anonymous Lawyer is written as a snarky blog interspersed with e-mails to and from Anonymous Niece (soon to attend law school) and blog commenters. The Anonymous Lawyer in Anonymous Lawyer shares intimate—and often disturbing—confidences about the inner workings and secrets of his firm, their dealings with the new class of summer associates, his likes (his office, seven feet bigger than The Jerk’s) and dislikes (holidays and paralegals), and his thoughts about his Anonymous Wife and Anonymous Son. Then someone in the firm, Associate X, figures out who Anonymous Lawyer is and threatens to expose him. They make a deal to dig up proof of an internal scandal. If they succeed, each should end up with what he most wants. But neither can anticipate the outcome of and fallout from their scheme. What is true and what is a lie? Nothing is sacred. Lavish summer associate outings and firm parties, expected billable hours and work ethic, social structure within a large firm, dealings with clients and more are laid bare. Anyone who has worked in or with law firms or who knows a lawyer should enjoy this book.
